Brandon Thomas-Asante scored a stunning first goal for Sutton United in their Buildbase FA Trophy First Round tie with Bromley.

Thomas-Asante, making his fifth appearance for the U’s, found the top right-hand corner with a fierce strike from all of 25-yards.

The finish put Sutton ahead at Hayes Lane but they weren’t able to hold on to their lead and a 2-1 defeat saw them bow out of the competition.

Thomas-Asante & Co travel to FC Halifax Town next weekend.

Elsewhere, Liam Sole made his debut for Hampton & Richmond Borough in their impressive 2-1 victory over Welling United.

By all accounts, Sole impressed on his first outing for the Beavers who stunned the Vanarama National League South promotion-hopefuls courtesy of two goals from Chris Dickson.

Sole will look to build on his solid debut when Hampton and Richmond travel to Torquay United next weekend.

Finn Tapp made his fifth appearance for Staines Town but wasn’t able to help his loan club avoid a 2-0 defeat to Frome Town. Tapp played the entire 90 minutes for the Swans, who are 21st in the Evo-Stik League Southern Premier Division table.

Finally, striker Sam Nombe was not in action for Oxford City, whose FA Trophy tie with Maidenhead United was abandoned with 15 minutes to play due to poor playing conditions. City were winning 1-0.
