All you need to know ahead of Saturday's Sky Bet League Two clash at Stadium MK...

7 December 2018

MK Dons will be back in action this Saturday, when they welcome Carlisle United to Stadium MK.

It's safe to say everyone associated with MK Dons is missing football, but you don't have to wait much longer, with Paul Tisdale's side back in action this Saturday afternoon.

Without a game last Saturday, the Dons will have gone 10 days without a game come kick-off on Saturday, a break that has been well-deserved given the form of Tisdale's side.

The 2-0 win over Morecambe feels like months ago, however, Alex Gilbey's double that day ensured the Dons entered the break top of the table - but more importantly - off the back of a win.

This weekend, Carlisle are in town, as they go in search of another important three points.

Kick-off this Saturday is at 3.00pm.

Carlisle enter Saturday's clash boasting the third best away form in the division, they've picked up 17 points from a possible 30 on the road this season. That impressive form includes wins over Swindon, Oldham and Bury. What's more, no team have won more than the five the Cumbrians have notched on their travels so far this season.

Appointed this past summer after the four-year tenure of Keith Curle came to an end, Sheridan will be looking to return to Sky Bet League One with Carlisle and end their five-year stay in Sky Bet League Two.

He's certainly started the season in good form, with his side occupying 11th place, just five points off a play-off position. Sheridan recruited a number of faces during the Summer, with Anthony Gerrard following the Manager from Oldham Athletic, while George Glendon arrived from Fleetwood and Gary Miller from Plymouth Argyle.

The man to watch for Carlisle is Jamie Devitt, he's netted five times in his last five games - form that saw him nominated for Sky Bet League Two Player of the Month for November.

Alex Gilbey scored a second-half brace against Morecambe to send MK Dons back to the top of the Sky Bet League Two table.

Paul Tisdale's men were made to wait for their glory at Stadium MK, however, their patience was rewarded after the break with Gilbey finding the net twice to secure a fifth success home success for the Dons.

Goals from Matt Rhead and John Akinde saw Lincoln City overcome Carlisle United and book a place in the third round of the FA Cup.

Rhead found the net just 30 seconds into the second-round tie, while Akinde, the man Rhead replaced in the starting line-up, added a second goal four minutes from time to avoid a nervy finish.

Paul Tisdale: “John Sheridan is an experienced manager, and he was a fabulous footballer - Carlisle are one of the best travelling teams for points gained.

"It's more than likely to be a very tough game, if after 10 games away, they've picked up 17, 18 points, that's not a fluke - we need to be on our guard."

Josh Sheridan: "This will be a really tough game because they are going along really well. Paul Tisdale is an excellent manager, I get on well with him, and they're a very good footballing side.

"They're up there on merit and I think this is a good game for us because it will be a test, and it's one I think we can face."

MK Dons manager Paul Tisdale used his pre-match press conference to provide updates on a number of injuries.

On Jordan Moore Taylor: "He's a bit sore, and having the weekend off was a plus for him and Chuks. As always, we will assess them closer to the game to see what is possible and what's not. I'd like them both back as quick as I can."

On Peter Pawlett: "He's closer to being fit and available. He had a minor injury since coming back from his ankle problem. He's close and hopefully, we can assess him before Saturday. He has been training, he has been looking sharp and I'm hopeful he will be available."

Carlisle man Jamie Devitt missed last week's Emirates FA Cup clash at Lincoln due to a calf injury, which is understood to be short-term, he may be available for Saturday's encounter. Danny Grainger is also a doubt for Sheridan.

After 13 months on the sidelines, midfielder Jason Kennedy made the match-day squad last time out.

Scott Oldham will referee this Saturday's clash at Stadium MK - it'll be his 14th game of the season so far.

Oldham has so far issued 44 bookings, while he's yet to show a red card.

Oldham's assistant referees this evening are Alix Pashley and Darren Wilding while the fourth official is Andrew Hendley.
