Plenty of positives for Paul

There were plenty of positives for Paul Tisdale after his MK Dons secured their sixth successive Sky Bet League Two success at Stadium MK.

Against the division’s second-best away team in Carlisle United, the Dons put in another complete home performance to win 2-0 and maintain their place at the top of the Sky Bet League Two table - all without the services of Jordan Moore-Taylor and Chuks Aneke, who were sidelined due to injury.

“I really enjoyed it,” Tisdale said in his post-match press conference. “Love the win, and I like a 2-0 – it shows a control and competency.

“To give some context, Carlisle have a better away record than we do at this stage of the season, but we were on it today. I really enjoyed the way we played, even with a couple of changes

“I'd like to give the players credit for being alive, crisp and bright and trusting each other. I hope it's not a one-off and we continue to play in this fashion.

“We're evolving as a side. It won't be a steady curve upwards, and there will be ups and downs, but we're doing it from a strong position at the top of the league.”

George Williams was named the Match Sponsor’s Man of the Match while Dean Lewington won the supporter’s vote on social media after the game but there were plenty others who could have warranted the honour.

Tisdale praised a number of his squad in his post-match interview.

“I thought Lawson D'Ath was excellent - he played really well. It's the first match he's had in a game that suited him. He has had a slow start with injuries but I have a lot of faith in him because I know what he's about. It was lovely to see him play so well.

“Jordan Houghton was excellent as well, changing position too. Jordan is a good footballer and it was a football match that suited him. For his goal, we talk all the time about keeping shots low. It was on target and low in the corner is no better place to put it.

“We mustn't forget Lee Nicholls out there today – he made some really big saves. He came out and got there first in a one-on-one. One ties in with the other - keep it out at one end and put them in at the other.”

There was also a particular mention for captain Lewington who, fresh from his Sky Bet League Two Player of the Month nomination for November, helped the team secure an 11th clean sheet while also providing the assist for Kieran Agard’s goal.

“He's playing so well so it was good for him to make that second goal - it was a really good move and he put the perfect ball in.

“It was a clean slate when I arrived and I gave them all a blank canvas to prove themselves to me and he has proven week on week that he's a thoroughly good footballer. He has a good football brain but I’m not surprised because he has played more than 700 game and been selected by manager after manager - there must be something about him and he shows it week after week.”

Here is what else Tisdale had to say in his post-match press conference...
Wait and see on Healey and D’Ath...
“[Healey] and Lawson are both on the medical table. Ironically, I was going to bring them off anyway. We'll have to wait and see.”

Happy to see Osman back...
“It was a nice treat for him and everyone to see him out there. It was good to see him back.”
