Finn Tapp made it two goals in two games for Staines Town but it wasn’t enough for them to avoid a Boxing Day defeat at Beaconsfield Town.
The MK Dons defender, who netted in Staines’ fixture before Christmas, beat the Beaconsfield goalkeeper at his near post to put the Swans 2-0 up at Holloway’s Park.
However, Staines Town relinquished their lead before half-time courtesy of two goals in 12 minutes from the hosts, who went on to win the contest with a quarter of an hour left to play.
The Surrey club remain bottom of the Evo-Stik League South Premier Division South table. They travel to Farnborough this Saturday afternoon.
Elsewhere, Liam Sole was involved in Hampton & Richmond Borough’s solitary goal in their National League North clash with Woking on Wednesday.
The winger was brought down on the edge of the area and Hampton, who trailed 2-0, scored from the resulting free-kick. They weren’t, though, able to find an equaliser, instead falling to a 3-1 loss.
Sole & Co remain 15th in the National League South table, six points adrift of the play-off places. They visit Chippenham Town on Saturday.
Sam Nombe played 90 minutes for Oxford City in their 1-1 Boxing Day draw with Hungerford Town.
Nombe went close to scoring a second City goal three minutes into the second half while he also teed up teammate Craig Fasanmade, who couldn’t convert what would have been a match-winner.
City, seventh in the National League South, will hope to return to winning ways at the weekend when they take on Wealdstone.
Not in action on Boxing Day was Brandon Thomas-Asante, who was an unused substitute in Sutton United’s 1-0 National League win over Bromley.
The MK Dons forward will hope to be involved this weekend when Sutton take on Aldershot Town.
