Williams on the importance of building on opening-day win

Defender on life under Paul Tisdale and opening day victory ahead of Stadium MK opener…

Having been born and raised in Milton Keynes, George Williams is a man who knows the City well – now he’s looking to repay the support of the MK Dons faithful as the men from MK1 prepare to make their Stadium MK bow.

Williams & co started their Sky Bet League Two campaign in perfect fashion last Saturday as they overcame Oldham Athletic 2-1 thanks to goals from Kieran Agard and Ryan Harley.

Dan Gardner drew the Latics level, however, the Dons displayed resilience and togetherness to come away with the three points.

“It was important to get off to a good start,” Williams told the media ahead of today’s clash against Bury.

“The season isn’t going to be won after the first game, but it’s important to get some points on the board as early as possible – we’re delighted we done just that.”

This Summer saw 10 new faces arrive at Stadium MK, Williams noted those new players have settled in quickly and will all benefit the team in one way or another.

“I think we’ve got a big squad, we’ve got some really good players that are really versatile that can play in all sorts of positions - we’re all settling into life under new management.

“I think it’s important in any team that you can adapt to different positions and situations - that’s important because it keeps the opposition on their toes and keeps us solid.”

Williams concluded the interview adding that the dressing room wants to move forward and reward the fans for sticking with the Club.

“I think last season has gone now, we’ve all put it behind us and it’s about looking forward now – we are all looking forward to getting back out to Stadium MK."
