Robbie Simpson has been a part of many different squads during his career and believes he has found a happy and close-knit group with MK Dons.

Simpson moved to Milton Keynes earlier this summer, joining a team that has welcomed 10 new arrivals since the appointment of Paul Tisdale.

Despite the changes, the experienced forward can already see signs that the group is coming together at Stadium MK and believes that will benefit the side moving forward, just as it did last weekend at Oldham Athletic.

“It was a tough game last weekend but for us to see the game out in the way we did is testament to how far we’ve come in the last few weeks in terms of our togetherness,” he told iFollow MK Dons.

“I think Tis has brought that togetherness in. Since we’ve got back from Spain, everything just seems to have clicked. Everyone has pulled in the right direction - Tis is giving us messages and the lads are buying into it.

“We’ve got a great bunch of lads and it’s a lively dressing room - the banter is always flying. The surroundings here are brilliant and the facilities are too - everything is geared up to allow us as players to be our best.

“It’s a happy place but it always is a happy place after you win. We need to maintain this positive vibe and, through the tough times that will occur, make sure the qualities we saw on Saturday come out to get us through.”

Simpson played 70 minutes in last Saturday’s 2-1 victory at Oldham Athletic and will look to be involved again this weekend as MK Dons go in search of making it back-to-back league wins to start the 2018/19 season.

“I’m looking forward to making my home debut here at Stadium MK,” he said.

“It will be a tough game against Bury, another relegated side like us. They have strengthened this summer and are coming in on the back of a win at the weekend. We’re looking forward to it though and are all geared up and ready to go.”

Simpson continued: “I’m looking forward to meeting the home fans and seeing them get behind us.

“The fans were brilliant last Saturday. I didn’t expect them to travel in those numbers because Oldham isn’t exactly an easy trip. They helped us through those final 10 minutes and it was nice to be able to give them a clap at the end of a win, to show our appreciation.”
