Jordan Moore-Taylor was one of three debutants from the opening day victory over Oldham Athletic and believes the squad is ready to “battle for each other.”
Paul Tisdale’s side netted their first goal of the season just nine minutes into Saturday’s clash thanks to Kieran Agard’s penalty – with their lead doubled on 22-minutes after Ryan Harley converted from a free-flowing move.
The Dons deficit was reduced after Gardner beat Nicholls from range. Tisdale’s men then survived the second-half pressure from the hosts to pick up their first three points of the season.
“It was a battle,” Moore-Taylor told iFollow MK Dons. “I thought we stood up to it really well, we played our football and it was a slog – but I think we defended really well in the end.
“It was nice to go 2-0 up, we wanted a third and it would’ve been nice to keep a clean sheet, but we got the win – that’s what we came here for.
“There is always pressure on the defence at 2-1, you don’t have that advantage, it’s usually backs against the wall in order to keep the ball out of the net – thankfully we did that.”
The 24-year-old arrived at Stadium MK in June, and despite only knowing his new teammates for a couple of months – he noted everyone is pulling in the same direction.
“I enjoyed it, I think the lads done really well and battled for each other and that’s the way it has to be this year if we want to be successful.
“We are going to have to battle really hard if we are going to be successful in this league, teams want to get about you and put you under pressure, if we can withstand that then I’m sure we will have a successful year.
“I think everyone knows what to expect, we will play sides that pass the football and we will play sides that get it forward as quick as they can. We’ve got to go through that in the week before the game and stand up to it when Saturday comes.”
