Midfielder praises resilience following Crewe draw...

20 August 2018

Jordan Houghton’s performances so far this season have earned praise from Paul Tisdale, his team mates, and the MK Dons faithful.

Having departed Chelsea after 15-years with the Premier League outfit, Houghton made Stadium MK his new home earlier in the Summer.

The 22-year-old was one of 10 new signings this Summer and despite such a vast amount of fresh faces – Houghton spoke highly of how quickly the squad has gelled.

“I can’t speak for last year, but I think coming into this season we’ve come in and it’s a very relaxed environment which has helped everyone,” Houghton said to the media following the final whistle at the Alexandra Stadium.

“Obviously, there has been a number of new players, which on paper, you’d think would take some time to gel but we look solid which is a good platform to build on and move forward and improve.

“Crewe is a tough place to come, especially when it’s on a nice pitch and they played some nice football.

“I think we’ve got to look at it as a good point, coming away we battled well and stuck together, which to be fair we’ve shown in every single game so far this season that we are a team and we are solid. “

“We look like a team and we look like a very solid team at that. There is always going to be times in games when we come under pressure and I think we defend the box well.

Houghton added, “We give ourselves a platform to attack from as well, it’s not just myself, I mean the whole defence, we don’t just clear it out to the stand, we play the forwards

“The defending doesn’t come just from the defence either, it’s all over the pitch, you’ve got Kieran [Agard] and Ouss [Cisse] working really hard - it’s a team effort.

After picking up a point in an entertaining clash against Crewe, Houghton & co continued their impressive start to the season ahead of their home double header this week.

The midfielder also noted that the Dons squad can still improve, with bonding and familiarity coming all across the pitch.

He concluded, “I think we’ve gelled extremely well defensively but there is still a lot more to come on the ball. We’re still getting used to peoples runs and their movement - I think there is a lot more to come in terms of that.
