Kieran Agard opened his 2018/19 account just nine minutes into the season, before registering his first assist of the campaign minutes later, as Ryan Harley converted from his low cross.
His all-round performance and willingness to press in the final third also saw him selected the Fans Social Media Man of the Match - capping off the perfect start to the season for the striker.
Agard, who is entering his third season at Stadium MK, noted how pleasing it was that MK Dons could play attractive football but also grind out a result.
“I think the Oldham game showed that we can do both sides of the game,” the 28-year-old told iFollow MK Dons following the full-time whistle.
“We can defend, we can be aggressive, and we can get the ball down and play some football as well - it was a good test for us and we’re all delighted.
“Oldham put us under pressure but I think as a team - we defended excellently. We’re delighted that we weathered the storm to come away with all three points.”
Agard also reserved special praise for the Dons faithful who made the 350-plus mile round trip to Boundary Park to show their support for the men from MK1.
“The fans were great and I’m sure they will be great all season. They gave us that extra support to get us over the line and we’re all so appreciative of them.
“Oldham is a long way to travel and we are so thankful to have them.”
