Ward wants success for both clubs

Defender talks to REDDOT ahead of today's clash with parent club Blackburn Rovers...

2 April 2018

Elliott Ward hopes to end the season with both of his clubs enjoying success at their respective ends of the Sky Bet League One table.

Ward has made a positive impact since joining MK Dons on loan from today's opponents Blackburn Rovers, featuring in every minute of every league game he's been available for.

Due to the terms of his loan, the 33-year-old can’t be involved in this afternoon’s clash at Stadium MK but, between now and the end of the season, he wants to play his part in helping the Dons avoid relegation, while also hoping that the Rovers secure promotion to the Sky Bet Championship.

“If Blackburn were to get promoted and the Dons were to stay up then that would be great,” he told REDDOT in an exclusive interview ahead of today’s Sky Bet League One fixture.

“There are a great bunch of lads at Blackburn and it was hard to leave because the dressing room was so good. They are in a good place and deserve to be where they are – hopefully they do go up.

“I’ve enjoyed it here. We’ve got a good group here that all want to do well and I think we’re getting stronger and stronger.

“On the outside everyone just looks at the results, nothing more, but from the inside we’ve always felt that if we continued to do what we worked on, that a change in results was coming.

“We are on a good run but there are still seven games to go and we have to win of those as many as possible – that’s the aim and we will just keeping working towards that.”

You can read the full interview with Elliott Ward in today's edition of REDDOT, which is available from sellers around the ground and the Box Office at a price of £3.
