Repeating the feat and a Dean Lewington milestone are among the storylines to follow...

mkdons.com details the storylines to follow heading into Saturday's crucial Sky Bet Leauge One clash with Southend United...

Repeat the feat
MK Dons sit five points adrift of safety in Sky Bet League One with four games remaining in the 2017/18 campaign. While it may appear to be a tough ask, the Dons need only look far back as last month for motivation.

In March, Dan Micciche’s men enjoyed a four-game unbeaten run which saw them pick up three wins and a draw. That form saw them move from seven points adrift of safety to two points clear of the bottom four.

A repeat of that over the final three weeks of the season would ensure their Sky Bet League One status, but it must start with a positive result on Saturday at Southend United.

700 up for Lewie
Should he be involved at the weekend, Dean Lewington will make his 700th career appearance.

That 700 total includes games in all competitions since the defender made his debut as a substitute for Wimbledon, in a Division 1 fixture with Sheffield Wednesday during the 2002/03 season.

This milestone could come a week after he featured in his 600th regular-season league fixture.

Knowing Lewington, he would love to cap off the feat with a victory at Roots Hall.

Latest on Lee
The Dons were without goalkeeper Lee Nicholls last weekend due to an injury suffered during a challenge in the Sky Bet League One clash with Wigan Athletic earlier this month.

Nicholls continues to be monitored by the medical team, with Wieger Sietsma in place to deputise once again if he is unavailable to play.

Sietsma made his league debut for the Dons last Saturday against Doncaster Rovers – his sixth appearance of the campaign in all competitions.

Micciche to make changes?
With players returning from injury, there are options available if boss Micciche opts to freshen up his starting XI.

Marcus Tavernier made his comeback last weekend and will be pushing for a start along with Brandon Thomas-Asante, who scored a hat-trick for the Under-23s in Wednesday’s Berks and Bucks FA County Senior Cup victory over Slough Town.

Nigel Reo-Coker, Kieran Agard and Josh Tymon are among the others who will want to be considered for a starting berth.
