Changes to the End of Season Awards

Chairman addresses change to awards night...

27 April 2018

Given the state of affairs after Tuesday’s defeat to Bradford City, MK Dons have made significant changes to next week’s End of the Season Awards.

The Football Club has decided that, after the failures of this season, it would not be appropriate for the Club itself to recognise its first-team players with awards for performances on the pitch.

Consequently, the following awards will not be awarded – Player of the Year, Players’ Player of the Year, Team Performance of the Year and Top Goalscorer.

The entire first-team squad will still be in attendance on the night and will continue to host tables for our supporters, partners and sponsors.

Chairman Pete Winkelman said: “This has been an unacceptable season and we are not a Football Club that wishes to celebrate failure.

“The End of Season Awards have always been an opportunity to recognise all aspects of the Football Club and so we will continue the night to honour the excellent achievements of the Academy, the Ladies and the Sport and Education Trust’s disability teams this season.

“There will also be honours for our supporters and a special recognition Chairman’s Award. Off the pitch, our first-team players have continued to make an impact in the community and help to promote the Club in a positive way – those who have made a significant contribution in these areas will be acknowledged on the night.”
