George after more points at Posh

Defender hopes to build on Saturday's success...

12 September 2017

George Williams hopes to take the momentum gained from Saturday’s victory into tonight's clash with Peterborough United.

MK Dons secured their first away league win of the season with a professional 1-0 success at Plymouth Argyle and they’ll be looking to make it back-to-back three points when they visit the ABAX Stadium this evening.

“We’re happy (with the win),” Williams said after the triumph in Devon. “We’ll be looking to carry that on into Tuesday.

“To get that first away league win was really good for us and hopefully we can build a bit of momentum now – if you can put together a good run in this league then anything can happen.

He added: “We’re just focusing on building each week and trying to get as many points as possible. I think everyone would agree we’re looking better and better every game.”

Despite playing against 10 men for over an hour in Saturday’s match at Home Park, the Dons were unable to add to the 1-0 lead they established in the ninth minute.

While Williams would have preferred the team to make the most of their man-advantage by scoring more goals, the defender was just pleased to walk away with the three points.

“It’s always hard when a team goes down to 10 men because they have to work that extra bit harder. Credit to Plymouth they made it hard for us but we were professional and got the job done.

“It’s all about the three points. Yes, we didn’t create as much going forward in the second half but it’s about getting the win which we did.”

On their longest journey of the season, the men from MK1 were backed by over 200 Dons fans in Plymouth and in his post-match interview, Williams was keen to reserve a special mention for the travelling support.

“I want to say a special thank you to the fans. There were 200 that came down even though it’s a long, old trip and I thought they were brilliant – they really pushed us on.”
