Gboly out to extend goal and win streak

Winger hopes to score and win for the third straight game...

26 September 2017

MK Dons will be out to make it three straight wins tonight at Stadium MK while Gboly Ariyibi will also be looking to extend a streak of his own.

Ariyibi has scored in each of the last two matches, helping his side to victories over Rochdale and AFC Wimbledon – the winger scored twice in the 3-2 success over Dale before netting the second of the Dons’ two goals in the win at the Cherry Red Records Stadium on Friday night.

The 22-year-old will now hope to find the net again this evening and help the men from MK1 secure another valuable three points against Northampton Town.

“It’s the first time I’ve really had this kind of impact in terms of goals this early on in the season,” Ariyibi told REDDOT ahead of tonight’s match at Stadium MK. “It’s a good achievement for me but obviously I want to keep getting better at it and score more goals.

“I’m delighted with how it’s gone so far for me. I’d like to think I’ve had an okay start, with room to get better. I’m looking forward to seeing what the rest of the season will bring.

“I want to do well for the Club, first and foremost. Then it’s just about improving every time I go on the pitch. Especially the defensive-side of my game – there is a lot to improve there. Also going forward – I want to be a threat and I want to excite the fans.”

On taking the confidence from Friday’s result into tonight’s match, Ariyibi added: “Everyone on the pitch put a shift in to the whistle was blown and we came away with three points – it will give us a big boost going into the Northampton Town game.

“It was a massive result for the boys, the fans and the Club. There’s a big history between the two and the boys knew that all week. There was a great atmosphere there and it one of the best derbies I’ve played in – the fans got behind us from the minute we got off the coach and I think that was important as we took it on to the pitch and it made us stronger.”

Read more from Ariyibi in tonight’s edition of REDDOT, which will be available to buy from sellers around Stadium MK as well as the Club Superstore at a price of £3.

The Nottingham Forest loanee discusses his finish in the win over Rochdale, his time in America and Nigeria while he also reveals which current teammate he spent time with as a youngster at Southampton.
