Midfielder wants to bounce back at the weekend...

Alex Gilbey is confident MK Dons can bounce back from their midweek disappointment when they take on Rochdale at Stadium MK on Saturday.

The men from MK1 were beaten 2-0 by Peterborough United on Tuesday but have the opportunity to respond, as they entertain Greater Manchester-based Dale at Stadium MK in an important Sky Bet League One fixture.

“We can go again Saturday and hopefully kick on,” Gilbey told iFollow MK Dons after the loss to Posh.

“We go into Saturday’s game looking to win – we want to win all of our home games and make this place a fortress.”

Reflecting on Tuesday’s defeat at the ABAX Stadium, Gilbey said: “The game plan was to get three points so it’s very frustrating not to and get any.

“I felt we were solid in the first half but then we conceded early in the second half and it doesn’t matter who you are or who you are against, if you concede in the 46th minute then it kills everything you’ve planned to come out and do.

“When you concede, a lot of the time you get put on the back foot and they have the momentum – be fair to Peterborough, they came at us strong.

“We have to nip those things in the bud. We can’t afford to concede that early after half-time and then let in another so soon after – it’s not good enough.”

He added: “I felt we dealt with them well apart from that. We had eight or nine chances in the game but there keeper pulled off a few top saves – on another night they go in and it’s a different game.

“We just should have been better as a team to cancel out the two goals but we go again.”
