Ladies prepared to dig deep against Luton

James Honeyman and Louise Naylor look ahead to today's clash...

James Honeyman is aware MK Dons Ladies may have to “dig in” to get a result against Luton Town Ladies this afternoon.

The Dons host the Hatters at Willen Road in their second league meeting of the season and Honeyman revealed he is aware of the Hatter’s quality, saying: “I think we know they’re good, we know it’s going to be tough.

“We beat them in the 96th minute earlier this season so we know we’re really going to have to dig in to get that result. However we’ve won seven of our last eight games.”

The Dons beat the Hatters at the start of the month, winning 2-1 at Stockwood Park. The Dons had to come from behind to win that game, with Charly Wright scoring in the 96th minute to earn victory.

Both teams go into this meeting in excellent form. The Hatters have recorded four straight wins, scoring 15 goals in the process. Whereas the Dons go into the game on the back of beating Denham United Ladies 2-0 to keep themselves unbeaten in their last eight games.

Vice-Captain Louise Naylor believes the Dons should be confident of achieving a result. She said: “I think we should be confident going into the Luton game - we’ve got a strong squad at the moment.

“They’ve had some good results though, so we know we are going to have to up our performance from the Denham game - even though we won that game, in the first half we were still a bit slow and it can be worked on.”

The Dons are currently higher in the league than the Hatters, with the Dons second and the Hatters fifth. However, there are only two points separating them so the Hatters know a win would see them leapfrog the Dons.
