Ladies focused on maintaining form in Plate opener

MK Dons Ladies to take on Denham United this afternoon...

22 October 2017

Charlie Bill is looking for MK Dons Ladies to continue their good form when they host Denham United this afternoon in the FA Women’s Premier League Plate.

The Dons host Denham at Willen Road in the first round of the league competition – kick-off 2pm.

The two sides met last Sunday at The Den and couldn’t be separated with the game ending as a 1-1 draw. Alissa Down put Denham ahead before Alice Hughes scored with a header in the 74th minute to share the points.

Bill believes playing Denham in their last game will benefit the team with their preparation. He said: “Having played Denham last week, it helps us with planning around training as we know their style, strengths and weaknesses.

“We can also plan around our mistakes from the last game and stop them on Sunday.”

Last weekend was not the first meeting this season for the two sides, with the sides having already met at Willen Road in the opening game. The Dons went ahead in that game through Kerry Newman, before Down equalised for Denham to see the game end 1-1.

In regards to this game being different, as it’s a cup game and not league action, Bill said the mindset towards the match does not change.

He said: “We will go into the game in the same mindset as any other game. We are currently unbeaten in seven games and want to continue that good run of form.

“A cup run can always boost moral around the camp, and it gives us a chance to give minutes to players who need them.”
