For Dean Lewington, his 14th season as an MK Dons player has been like no other.
Reason being, the Club stalwart is now a father after he and his partner Gemma welcomed a baby daughter - Willow - to the Lewington family during the summer.
“It was an amazing feeling when she was born,” he told REDDOT in a Family Fun Day exclusive.
“I’m really enjoying being a father and I’ve loved the last four-and-a-half months. It’s very tiring but most of the time it is extremely rewarding.”
So how has Lewington coped with the demands of training and being a parent?
“It has been difficult at times but we are really lucky that mine and Gemma’s family are able to come round and help.
“Obviously I want to be there as much as I can, especially in these early days when they grow up so quickly, but at the same time I don’t want to jeopardise what I’m doing with my job – it’s about finding that balance.”
