mkdons.com details the storylines to follow heading into this Saturday’s Sky Bet League One fixture at Stadium MK...
Robbie’s run to continue...
After an unwanted spell of results in October, Robbie Neilson’s men returned to winning ways with victories over Hyde United and Oxford United before overcoming Fleetwood Town 1-0 in their most recent Sky Bet League One clash.
The three wins proved that Neilson’s side can win different types of games, against Hyde they dominated possession and had the majority of chances while Oxford United was a much more open game with both sides having numerous chances.
Finally, against Fleetwood Town, MK Dons had to dig deep and put their bodies on the line to pick up the three points. Despite late pressure from The Cod Army, the men from MK1 came away with the win.
Heading into Saturday’s game at The Valley, the Dons will need to be prepared for another difficult tie.
Options for Robbie...
Over the last three games we’ve seen Robbie Neilson rotate his side to take a look at a number of players who haven’t been involved as much as they’d like in the Sky Bet League One campaign. The likes of Aidan Nesbitt and Gboloy Ariyibi have impressed both manager and fans alike.
Last Saturday’s win over Fleetwood also saw the return of Scott Golbourne who had been injured since the 2-0 defeat against Bristol Rovers. The left-back gives Neilson yet another defensive option with Callum Brittain also returning to the squad after his time away with England.
Peter Pawlett impressed on his first start since his return from injury and would’ve no doubt excited the fans with his performance. Come 2:00pm we’ll know who Neilson has opted to field for the Charlton tie.
Despite facing MK Dons a number of times since being appointed Charlton Athletic, there will still be some focus on the fact Karl Robinson will face his former club this weekend – however, he’s not the only Charlton man coming up against his former employers.
Midfielder Jake Forster-Caskey made his move from Brighton Hove Albion to Charlton Athletic in January 2017. Since then he’s featured 31 times scoring five goals for the club. The former Dons man turned out 23 times during two separate loan spells at Stadium MK scoring one goal.
Finally, Ben Reeves signed for Karl Robinson’s side in the summer after spending four years with MK Dons. The midfielder featured over 130 times for the Dons scoring 32 times.
