All you need to know ahead of Saturday’s Sky Bet League One clash...

10 November 2017

mkdons.com previews this Saturday’s Sky Bet League One fixture against Fleetwood Town, as the Dons look maintain their winning form against the Cod Army.

Robbie Neilson’s side made it two victories from two on Tuesday night as they overcame Oxford United in a seven-goal thriller at the Kassam Stadium.

The wins against Hyde United and Oxford would have no doubt given the men from MK1 a much-needed boost ahead of this weekend's visit of Fleetwood.

The Dons displayed two hard-working, disciplined and professional performances to progress in both the Emirates FA Cup and Checkatrade Trophy - they will be looking to maintain that high level of performance against the Cod Army.

Kick-off is at 3pm.

Fleetwood Town currently occupy ninth place in the Sky Bet League One table and will be hoping to finish in the play-off places for the second season in a row.

Uwe Rosler’s side enter this Saturday’s game without a win in their last three away games, however, they are unbeaten in their last four fixtures in all competitions.

The Dons made it two wins from two on Tuesday night as they got the better of Oxford United in the Checkatrade Trophy.

Brandon Thomas-Asante opened the scoring for the Dons before a Jack Payne double to put the hosts in front. The lead swung back in favour of MK Dons with Gboly Ariyibi netting twice before the half was over.

Rob Hall equalised in the second-half but shortly after Ryan Seager struck to secure the win.

Meanwhile, Fleetwood Town made the journey to Brunton Park where they ran out 2-1 winners over Sky Bet League Two outfit Carlisle United.

First-half goals from Jack Sowerby and Wes Burns ensured the Group Stage win for Rosler’s men.

Robbie Neilson: “Fleetwood Town are a good team - they are very organised, strong and difficult to break down.

"They’ll play 3-5-2 and will have two good strikers up front – they’ll come here and make it extremely difficult for us and look to hit us on the counter-attack like they did last season."

Uwe Rosler: “I went to watch [MK Dons] at Hyde in the Emirates FA Cup and I kept thinking – what a quality squad they have. Then you see the team they put out against Oxford in the Checkatrade Trophy – they have a top squad with top players.

“For me, it’s a big, big challenge – we need to put a massive shift in.”

For the Dons, Osman Sow is still partaking in his rehab programme - while Ousseynou Cisse will also miss this weekend’s clash.

Fleetwood Town will be without Lewie Coyle who begins the first of his three game ban after being sent off against Chorley in the Emirates FA Cup.

Elsewhere, Fleetwood will be without Bobby Grant, while Conor McAleny is a doubt for the tie.

Brett Huxtable will referee Saturday’s fixture at Stadium MK.

Mr Huxtable has been involved in the professional game since 2012, and last took charge of the Dons during their 1-0 defeat to Gillingham in December 2016.  That day he produced six yellow cards.

The Devon-born official has so far this season officiated 17 games and has produced 56 yellow cards and one red.

The assistant referees are Andrew Williams and Paul Yates while the fourth official is Mark Heywood.
