All you need to know ahead of Saturday’s Sky Bet League One clash...

16 November 2017

mkdons.com previews this Saturday’s Sky Bet League One fixture against Charlton Athletic at The Valley.

Robbie Neilson’s side made it three wins from three on Saturday afternoon as they overcame Fleetwood Town 1-0 thanks to Chuks Aneke.

The win over Fleetwood made it three wins in just over a week after Neilson’s men recorded victories over Hyde United and Oxford United prior to the clash. The Fleetwood Town win would’ve no doubt given the lads plenty of belief as we head into a busy period of fixtures.

Neilson will be looking to continue his sides winning run against Charlton Athletic.

Kick-off is at 3:00pm.

Charlton Athletic currently occupy third place in the Sky Bet League One table and will be hoping to secure promotion to the Sky Bet Championship come the end of the season. Karl Robinson’s side enter this Saturday’s game having lost just once in their last 10 games in all competitions. That defeat came at the hands of Portsmouth in the Checkatrade Trophy.

The Dons made it three wins in as many games on Saturday afternoon as they overcame Fleetwood Town in their Sky Bet League One clash.

Chuks Aneke’s first-half goal proved to be the only goal of the game as Neilson’s side defended in their numbers to pick up the three points.

Meanwhile, Charlton Athletic enjoyed a rest weekend after their Sky Bet League One fixture was postponed due to the international break. As a result of this, Charlton’s last game was played on Tuesday 7th November. Curtis Main scored the only goal as Charlton fell to a 1-0 defeat against Portsmouth in the Checkatrade Trophy. Their last Sky Bet League One game, meanwhile, was a 1-0 win over AFC Wimbledon.

Robbie Neilson: “The Valley is a difficult place to go, the mood there has changed from last season. We knew last season that if we went there and turned the crowd quickly they would get on top of them but I think it’ll be different this year.

“They’ve had a good start to the season, but it’s an extremely tight league and with the three points we can get close to them”

For the Dons, Osman Sow is still partaking in his rehab programme - while Ousseynou Cisse will also miss this weekend’s clash.

Charlton Athletic will put Tariqe Fosu through a late fitness test ahead of Saturday’s clash. The winger withdrew from Charlton’s Emirates FA Cup win over Truro City after just nine minutes.

Andy Woolmer will referee Saturday’s fixture at Stadium MK.

Mr Woolmer has been involved within the professional game since 2003 and last took charge of the Dons during their 4-1 defeat to Brentford in April 2016.  That day he produced didn’t produce a yellow card.

The Northampton-born official has so far this season officiated four games and has produced six yellow cards and zero reds.

The assistant referees are Ian Cooper and Mark Pottage while the fourth official is Nail Davies.
