Scott Golbourne is enjoying life with MK Dons and hopes to continue impressing at Stadium MK while helping the team climb the Sky Bet League One table.
The defender moved to Milton Keynes on Deadline Day, signing a short-term loan deal which will keep him with the Club until mid-January.
He has been a consistent feature in the starting XI when fit, featuring in 13 matches during which time he has produced three assists.
“I’m really enjoying it,” Golbourne said in an exclusive interview with REDDOT ahead of the Sky Bet League One fixture with Southend United. “It’s nice to be back and feel a part of something and having a purpose for what I’m doing.
“It’s nice to be part of this group – I think we’ve got a good set of lads here and they’ve welcomed me really well.
“After a bit of a slow start we’re starting to pick up and it has been enjoyable for me.”
At the age of 29, Golbourne is one of the more senior players in the Dons’ line-up and the left-back told REDDOT that being an experienced head is a role he relishes.
“It is a new role for me. I think it’s because football is getting younger, so now the more experienced players are the mid-20s, whereas when I was coming through there would be the lads in their mid-30s who had played almost 500 games that were the ones everyone looked up to.
“I’ve tried to help as much as I can and use my experience to set examples of professionalism. I’m always looking to help others tactically or with encouragement.
“I wouldn’t say I’m a shouter when I’m on the pitch but I’ll try to use my experience in whatever way I can.”
