Forward reflects on Hyde United victory...

Chuks Aneke spoke to the media after Dons’ 4-0 win over Hyde United in the Emirates FA Cup First Round on Friday night.

The 24-year-old was crowned Man of the Match after playing his part in Friday's win. The forward scored his second goal of the campaign on the stroke of half-time before his powerful run resulted in Ed Upson completing the scoring 17 minutes from time.

“It was enjoyable,” Aneke said in his post-match interview. “We’ve had some indifferent results in the league, and to come here and score four goals is good for the confidence.

“Everyone is buzzing to have won because the league form hasn’t been at the level we’d like it to be.”

Aneke’s 45th-minute strike all but put the tie to bed and the goal scorer had no doubts he’d find the back of the net.

“I was confident and really wanted to score. Ed [Upson] was in my ear asking if I really wanted it.

“It settled the nerves a bit at 2-0. There was a lot of talk before the game of it being a banana skin and we came here and done a professional job.”

Aneke also took the time to praise the Emirates FA Cup, however, he’s keen to keep his feet on the ground when it comes to the competition.

“I’d love a cup run – it has eluded me in my career, but I don’t want to get ahead of ourselves. Whoever we get, we’ll go there and put in another good performance.”

He concluded, “We’re buzzing to come out on top.”
