Thomas-Asante 'privileged' to win award

8 May 2017

MK Dons forward Brandon Thomas-Asante has spoken of his pride at being named the Club’s Academy Player of the Year.

Thomas-Asante, who signed professional terms with the Dons in September last year, has made 12 first-team appearances this season following a number of successful seasons with the academy.

Speaking after receiving his award at the Player of the Year Awards on Tuesday night, he told mkdons.com: “It feels such a privilege and I’m thankful for the opportunity. Hopefully I can kick on from here and achieve more.”

Thomas-Asante scored his first senior goal during the Dons' home win against non-league Spennymoor Town in November.

He said: “My highlight of the season was scoring in the FA Cup. I love the feeling of scoring and to score at home was amazing.”

The 18-year-old is pleased with his progress but insists he won't be resting on his laurels.

He said: “I definitely want to try and cement a regular place in the first team next season and try and improve and be the best I can.

“My time has been going really well and I’ve been enjoying it. I would like to thank everyone who has supported me this season.”
