Robbie: Stadium MK form key to success

Boss wants the Dons to make their home a fortress in 2017/18...

After starting the 2016/17 season with a 10-game winless run at Stadium MK, MK Dons responded in the second half of the campaign by becoming one of the best home teams in Sky Bet League.

Under the leadership of Robbie Neilson, the men from MK1 collected 23 points from their final 13 home fixtures – form which saw them move from the bottom four to the top half of the table by the season’s end.

Now the task for Neilson and his side is to maintain that excellent form at Stadium MK, which should assist them in their quest for success in 2017/18.

“Picking up as many points as you can at home is key to having a good campaign,” Neilson told iFollow MK Dons.

“When you go away it can be difficult – environments and pitches to name a couple – so if we want to challenge at the top end of the league, we need to win the majority of games at Stadium MK.”

Neilson’s Dons will hope an enhanced home form will see them improve on their 12th-placed finish in 2016/17 and maybe even challenge for a return to the Sky Bet Championship.

“The place is built for the big leagues and it’s important we get there.

“For us, it’s about building a team that can get us there and then keep us there, by bringing in players who we think can do it for us now and when we get to the higher leagues.”
