Renovation of the Stadium MK surface has begun in preparation for the 2017/18 campaign.
Head Groundsman Joe Aylett is leading the team, who have started work after several weeks of pitch hire and community events.
He explained the process to mkdons.com, saying: "We use a machine with a rotating brush that strips out all the grass, without damaging the Desso.
"After a couple of days of that, there won't be a blade of real grass on the pitch - it will just be sand and plastic grass standing up.
"Once that’s done, we’ll seed it and then there’s about 80 tons of sand which is brought in and put over the top.
"It’s then fertilised and watered and within about six weeks we’ll be playing on it again."
