“It’s the best I’ve felt” – that’s the message from Dean Lewington as he prepares for his 14th pre-season with MK Dons.
The 33-year-old , who signed a new two-year at Stadium MK last week, is working hard in the off-season to be in the possible shape for when the players return in June.
Speaking to iFollow MK Dons, he said: ““I’ve not been away this year because I’ve got a baby on the way. I’ve been hitting the gym and keeping myself in check with my diet. I feel great and I’ll keep going as I do.
“As you get older, pre-seasons get harder. You have to take care of your body more and you have to be a bit more professional. This year we will be doing a different pre-season – let’s see how we get on.”
Lewington believes there are many reasons to optimistic heading into 2017/18.
He said: “We finished the season reasonably well with some good performances in there. Everyone could see what the manager was trying to do and get across.
“There have been big changes and a lot of the senior players, who have been the core of the team in recent years, have moved on.
“While that’s sad and it’s a shame to see them go, it is a fresh new team and a new challenge for the Club.
“We’re definitely looking forward to next season and seeing what new faces will come in. It should make for an exciting time.”
