George's Player of the Year glee

7 May 2017

George Williams says he was ‘over the moon’ to be named Player of the Year at the Club’s Awards ceremony at Stadium MK.

Williams took home the top gong following an impressive 2016/17 campaign during which he established himself as a key member of Robbie Neilson’s side, performing in a number of different positions and earning plenty of plaudits for his consistency and dependability.

“I’m really happy,” the defender told MK Dons PlayerHD after receiving the award. “It’s been a good season for me to get the award means a lot to me.

“When I first came back here I wasn’t in the team as much but I knew that would be the case to start off with. I eventually got a chance and was able to hold down a position.

“It’s been good to play regularly since then. Obviously we wanted to finish higher as a team but I’ve been enjoying my football and we’re all looking forward to kicking on next season.”

To sign up, visit the Box Office at Stadium MK or call 0333 200 5343.

Watch Williams in action in 2017/18 by signing up for a Season Ticket - Season Tickets are pricedfrom just £32.73 a month; over-65s from £20.73 a month and under-21s from £14.18 a month while under-18s are able to enjoy the full 2017/18 campaign from just £4.63 a month.

“They are two big awards and I’m delighted to win them both – I’m over the moon.”

“It’s great to know the players, as well as the fans, are appreciating what you’re doing.

The 24-year-old was also named Players’ Player of the Year on the night, earning the majority of votes from his teammates.

“The fans have been brilliant all season – here at Stadium MK and away from home.”

Williams added: “Personally, I’d like to thank all the fans who voted for the award – it really does mean a lot to me.
