Boss excited by Pawlett signing

9 March 2017

Robbie Neilson is delighted to have secured the services of Peter Pawlett and is looking forward to working with the midfielder from next season.

Pawlett put pen to paper on a pre-contract agreement with MK Dons on Thursday – one which will see him move to Stadium MK on a two-year deal this summer.

“We’d been speaking to Peter for the last week or two so I’m pleased we’ve managed to get things tied up on a pre-contract,” Neilson said in his Thursday press conference.

“He’s the type of player I think we need at this Club and I’m looking forward to getting him down here.”

Here’s what else Neilson said about Pawlett in his press conference...

Good experience...
“He’s had a really good career up in Scotland and played a lot of games at a real high level. He’s played Europa League games and he’s been in cup finals. He just feels he’s ready to make the next step.”

“There’s a lot of big teams in this league. You see some of the crowds these teams pull. It’s also a great platform for these players to come down, do well and hopefully progress with the team into the Championship and beyond. The facilities down here are great and it’s a good lifestyle as well. There’s more diversity as well – sometimes in Scotland you can play the same team six times a season whereas down here’s it’s different all the time. I think it’s attractive to players to come down here and take that next step in their career.”
League One attraction...

“He’s direct, he’s quick and he makes things happen. He can break on the counter attack too. Hopefully he can come down and replicate the good performances he’s had up at Aberdeen and take that into this team.”
