MK Dons may have only just returned to work but there is already optimism around the camp that the 2017/18 campaign can be a successful one, according to George Williams.
The men from MK1 enjoyed a strong finish to last season, picking up 40 points from their final 26 games and securing a top-half finish from what was, at one point, a perilous position at the bottom of the table.
“There were a lot of positives to take from the second half of the season,” Williams told iFollow MK Dons on the players’ first day back at Stadium MK.
“Hopefully we can build on that this pre-season and learn more about how the gaffer wants us to play.”
He added: “We’re looking to push for promotion this season – that’s got to be the aim.”
The quest for that goal begins now as the players commence their pre-season programme at Woughton on the Green and while not looking forward to the fitness-side of the sessions, Williams is excited to get back to kicking a football again after his seven-week break.
“I’m not sure anyone is really looking forward to the running but I’m looking forward to getting the balls back out.
“(Pre-season) is going to be hard but we are all in fit shape so bring it on – we’re ready for it!”
