2016/17 recap - March

mkdons.com’s look back on the 2016/17 season nears its end, with the month of March next up...

3 June 2017

A disappointing month saw the Dons fall further behind in the race for a top-half finish, while their margin above the bottom four was decreased.

The loss to AFC Wimbledon was the main sore point in March – a month where the men from MK1 collected just five points from five games courtesy of one win, two draws and two defeats.

The Dons’ solitary victory came at Stadium MK – a 1-0 win over Coventry City that saw them increase their total of home wins under Robbie Neilson to seven.

Steven Davies had initially opened the scoring before Kieran Agard had levelled matters with his 13th goal of the season, at which point the Dons were looking the more likely to go on and win it.

AFC Wimbledon 2-0 MK Dons – Sky Bet League One (Tuesday 14th)
MK Dons fell to a 2-0 defeat on their first visit to AFC Wimbledon.

Second-half goals from Jake Reeves and Lyle Taylor proved the difference as the men from MK1 were unable to record a double over their rivals.
