MK Dons signed off their week of local pre-season friendlies with a 2-1 success over Aylesbury FC.
Sam Nombe’s superb lob proved the difference after Giorgio Rasulo’s fourth goal in less than 24 hours had been cancelled out by Charlie Hawtin’s header.
Carrying on from where he left off last night, Rasulo opened the scoring on six minutes when he fired home after Robbie Muirhead had initially been denied.
Ousseynou Cisse then drove a powerful shot not too far over the bar prior to Brandon Thomas-Asante forcing the hosts’ keeper into a smart save from Bradley Bell’s cross.
However, Aylesbury were level on 39 minutes courtesy of Charlie Hawtin’s clever header from close range after the hosts had recycled the corner.
The Dons went close to regaining the lead before the break but Bradley Bell couldn’t meet a cross and Brittain curled over from the edge of the box.
Like the two previous friendlies this week, a new XI emerged for the second half including Conor McGrandles, who shot wide from 20 yards after Brandon Thomas-Asante had been thwarted.
McGrandles then headed off target before it was Thomas-Asante’s turn to shoot wide from distance as the Dons looked to regain their lead.
Aylesbury FC saw a couple of chances go begging but youngster Alfie Jones was never really tested as the game entered the final stages.
At the other end, the hosts’ resilience was broken when Nombe capped off an impressive week in style, latching on to a through ball and deftly lobbing the keeper with four minutes remaining.
Another good work-out for Robbie Neilson’s men, who travel out to Hungary on Sunday for a week-long training camp and two friendlies.
