Chuks lets it all out with stunning strike

31 January 2017

There was plenty of pent-up frustration behind Chuks Aneke’s ferocious strike which almost broke the net at Peterborough United last weekend.

Aneke, playing in his 11th game since returning from a serious knee injury, sent an unstoppable 20-yard drive into the top right-hand corner to give MK Dons a three-goal advantage at the ABAX Stadium – a lead they’d later extend through another Aneke finish.

The force behind the vicious effort? A year’s worth of frustration at not being able to play games and score the types of goals Dons fans are beginning to see and enjoy from the 23-year-old.

“There was a lot of frustration in that shot,” Aneke said with a smile. “A lot of the lads are getting onto me about my celebration because I showed a lot of emotion. It all just came out because, everyone knows, I’ve had a hard time with the injury.

“It’s just really good to be back playing and enjoying my football. The gaffer has been really good for me and the team is playing really well too so I’m really enjoying it here – I want it to keep going.”

“When I was injured I did a lot of strength work and I feel like I’m in good shape. In the earlier games I was getting chances but not finishing them. I’m delighted that I took a few in this game – I feel like this is all a reward for all that hard work.
