Paul Downing hopes MK Dons can take the confidence from Tuesday’s dramatic victory into their clash with Oxford United this weekend.
“It’s always a great feeling (scoring a late winner),” Downing told MK Dons PlayerHD. “It’s massive for us getting the three points in our game in hand - now we climb the table and keep looking up.
“We spoke at the start of February about it being an important month for us because there are lots of games.
“Oxford on Saturday is a bit of a local one as well so there should be a good atmosphere. I remember the game here and it was a tight affair. They’re a good teams so we’ll have to do our homework and set up right.
“Hopefully we can take the confidence from the winning goal into Saturday and go and beat them.”
“You’ve got to be able to win many different ways. While we’re on this run, teams are going to bank in and make it difficult so we’ve got to learn to break them down - it’s something we’ve got to work on.
While the result is reason to cheer, Downing was honest about in his assessment of the Dons’ performance against the Latics - insisting the side the need to improve against teams who will sit back and defend in numbers.
