Dons to trial defenders

6 February 2017

With Robbie Neilson keen to bolster his defence, the MK Dons boss has revealed he could invite players to trial with the Club.

Neilson is currently without captain Dean Lewington, who is sidelined with an ankle problem, while centre-back Scott Wootton is still in the middle of his rehabilitation from a serious knee injury.

After missing out on a target in the January transfer window, the Scotsman is now looking to the free-agent market to add depth to his backline – a process he expects to ramp up later this week.

“I'm looking to get a few guys in on trial this week,” Neilson said after Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Bolton Wanderers. “It gives us an opportunity to get a few in and really take a look at them.

“There's real quality out there, you just have to give them a chance to come over here and show what they can do.”
