Ben buzzing after league bow

15 February 2017

Ben Tilney has had to remain patient for his chance to impress in the league but the full-back got his opportunity in Tuesday’s clash with Bury – and he didn’t disappoint.

The 19-year-old, who has made four first-team appearances times in various cup competitions, made his long-awaited league debut in this week’s clash at Gigg Lane, helping the Dons earn a clean sheet against a Shakers side who had scored 12 in five heading into the match.

“Getting the opportunity to start was really good,” Tilney told MK Dons PlayerHD afterwards. “I’ve been working hard and been getting on the bench recently –it’s made all the hard work I’ve been doing worthwhile.

“We all felt really secure at the back and it was good to keep a clean sheet. Attacking-wise we probably could have done a bit better but if it’s not happening up front then it’s always good to keep a clean sheet.”

“When the Gaffer told me I’d be starting I was buzzing. He told me a couple of days before the game which gave me some time to prepare. I was really excited but felt I was ready.

“I’ve just got to keep learning in training all the time and take everything that the gaffer and my teammates say on board.”

“Having that taste has given me that extra buzz to do whatever I can to get into the starting line-up again.

He added: “I’ve got a taste for it now after getting that full 90 minutes – I just want to do it all again.
