MK Dons Under-23s’ Central League fixtures have been revealed and the schedule includes five matches to take place at the home of Brackley Town.
The Dons’ development side, which will be managed by Senior Phase Development Coach Edu Rubio, will face the Shrimpers on Monday 4th September at Stadium MK – kick-off 2pm.
That match is followed by a trips to Peterborough United (Wednesday 13th September) and Plymouth Argyle (Tuesday 10th October) – the first of which is the Dons’ Central League Cup opener.
The Dons then play two more home fixtures against AFC Wimbledon (Wednesday 25th October, KO 7pm) and Forest Green Rovers (Monday 30th October, KO 7pm) – two of the five games which will be held at Brackley Town’s St. James’ Park ground.
Other highlights on the schedule include two clashes with AFC Bournemouth either side of the festive period and a trip to AFC Wimbledon in April.
All of the Dons’ home matches will have evening kick-offs and take place at Brackley Town, with the exception of the aforementioned opener against Southend and the visit of Colchester United in October – these two games will be played behind-closed-doors at Stadium MK.
Under-23s boss Rubio told mkdons.com: “I’m very excited for the games. I wanted this to really bridge the gap between the Academy and first team - we are starting to get it right in terms of providing a platform for those young lads to be prepared when they go into the first team.
“We want to be a powerful Under-23s set-up which will help Robbie and the first team but also stay true to our ethos.”
He added: “We’ve had great support from everyone at the Club, including Robbie who has been fantastic. Brackley Town, too, have been very supportive and provide us with an opportunity to play in a ground within the local community.”
