Reaction from Dean Bowditch, Jack Hendry and Brandon Thomas-Asante to the 1-0 win over Peterborough United in the Checkatrade Trophy...

DEAN BOWDITCH
On the win...
“I suppose you could say job done. We had a game-plan before the game and we worked on a few things to try and counteract them because they’ve got some talented, talented boys. They play really narrow so we had to try and protect the middle of the pitch which we did well tonight. There were times when they exploited us but at times, when we did nick the ball and break, we looked dangerous. I’m pleased for Kieran getting on the scoresheet. Hopefully he can kick on with some more goals now. It could have been two or three but they could have nicked a couple as well so I think 1-0 was probably the right result.”

On young Dons impressing...
“The boys that came in and played know what they are doing because they’ve played at this level this season. They know what’s expected of them and they did really well tonight.”

On being captain for the night...
“It was great to be asked. I was probably the most experienced player out there. I’ve never skippered a team before so to skipper this team was an honour really. I was really pleased and it’s nice to have a win behind it as well.”

“I thought we did really well. We moved the ball really well. It could have probably been three or four to be honest. I thought we dominated the game for large spells. We rode a bit of a storm as well which is good to see. We obviously kept a clean sheet. I think we maybe could have been a bit more clinical but overall it was a really good performance.”
On the performance...

“Building up a bit of steam is what we’re after. Two clean sheets and two wins away from home is ideal.”
On building confidence...

“It’s a very good night for the Football Club. It’s always good to do well in the cups. I thought we did well tonight, clean sheet and three points in this format. It’s a good night for the Football Club.”
On a positive night...
JACK HENDRY

“Hopefully we can get that first home win. The performances have been really good recently and the results haven’t quite reflected the way we’ve played so let’s just hope we can keep performing the way we are and then we’ll be back on the winning trail, I’m sure.”
On Sunday’s game...

“I think the clean sheet was really important. The back four was thrown together but they did fantastically well. Lee (Nicholls) was outstanding as well. To keep a clean sheet was really, really good so hopefully we can take that into the next game.”
On clean-sheet...

“When you look at the captains in the recent past, with Lewie (Dean Lewington) and Potts (Darren Potter) when he’s had to fill in, they aren’t really ranters on the pitch. You’ve got to look behind the scenes at times and in the changing rooms before you’ve got to be a voice. Because I was the most experienced in there I had to speak up in front of the young lads and say things to spur them on. Hopefully I did and lead my example.”
On being a leader this season...

“I’m really happy and grateful to the gaffer. He’s a great manager and I’m really trying to learn as much as I can off him. He’s talking to me constantly and giving me points to learn from. I’m just hoping I can continue to play and then hopefully push on and get my goals and express myself even more.”
On having the manager’s trust...

“I was happy with it. I was trying to really get on the ball and showcase what I can do. It was tough opposition so a lot of the time I had to be careful with it. I’m still learning, I’m still learning when I can express myself. It’s all a learning experience.”
On personal performance...

“Every opportunity is one to take. It’s a very competitive competition and there is a lot to take from it. Night’s like tonight allow you to improve.”
On having a chance to impress...

“I’m happy with the win. We’ve been doing well in this competition and now we’ve got to keep pushing on and getting results. I’m happy to have been involved.”
On the win...
BRANDON THOMAS-ASANTE

“It’s very important for ourselves to keep the run going. A home win is vital for ourselves and there is no better opportunity to do it than live on Sky on Sunday. Everyone’s really determined to get all three points.”
On taking the momentum into Sunday...

“It’s a great experience for the young lads. It will help them a lot, especially in this environment in a local derby. It’s always good to be thrown in at the deep end to help the team out and get three points to put us in the next round.”
On young players’ performance...

“I feel this is a team I’d like to play in, definitely. I’m very eager to play so when I do get the opportunity I need to go and prove myself and hopefully break into the team at some point.”
On pushing for a first-team place...

“I’m just getting into the swing of things. Obviously as a defender, a clean sheet is good but I thought other parts of my game was good. It was good to get 90 minutes and hopefully I can build on it.”
On making his Dons debut...

“Any team can go all the way and I think with the belief in this team and the tactical-side with the manager, we’ve got what it takes to go all the way.”
On progressing in the Checkatrade Trophy...

“I’m just trying to be as progressive as I can on the pitch. I like to go forward with the ball, get shot off and make things happen.”
On being positive as a player...

“I love them. They are really supportive. I just want to keep putting on a show them and making them want to come watch.”
On support from the fans...

“First of all, having the opportunity is the most important thing. At some other clubs you don’t really get that. You’ve got to have the character to want to push on and be confident. I still think I’ve got a lot to show but it’s been a good time for me so far.”
