Grounds Person
Full-time role to help maintain the Club’s sports playing surfaces and facilities.
Position details
Position: Grounds Person
Department: Grounds Maintenance Team
Reporting to: Head Grounds Person and Assistant Head Grounds Person
Salary: £16,000+ dependant on experience
Contract: Permanent
Hours: 37.5 per week, 5 out of 7 days
Main objectives
- Maintain and prepare the sports playing surfaces and facilities, to the highest of possible standards achievable.
- Assist with the operations of the Grounds Maintenance department, in relation to departmental responsibilities.
- To accurately execute and comply with both verbal and written instruction given by line manager.
Summary of duties
- To set out, mark and maintain sports pitches and amenity areas.
- To prepare, reinstate and renovate playing surfaces.
- To correctly use and maintain all PPE, powered and non-powered tools, machines, vehicles and equipment necessary for the job.
- To assist with the operations of the department in relation to the playing surfaces i.e. renovations, football matches, rugby matches and concerts.
- To carry out any other duties which are appropriate to the post, as may be reasonably requested by your supervisor.
- This role involves walking, standing, bending and stretching. It also involves lifting and carrying heavy items.
Essential
- Previous experience of working within the horticultural industry.
- Competently operate a range of sports turf machinery, such as: tractors, tractor attachments and ride on mowers.
- Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team, be motivated and committed to the role
- Calm and Efficient and be able to work under pressure
- Have a polite and courteous manner
- Be able to adapt to different and changing situations
- Be flexible to work in different locations and roles within the organization.
- Be able to carry out a physically demanding job role in all seasonal weather conditions and extremes.
- Be motivated and organized to achieve the highest of possible standards attainable.
- Hold a full driving license.

Volunteer Academy minibus driver
Part-time role to safely drive Academy apprentices or schoolboys to football matches, primarily for weekend games.
Position details
Position: Volunteer minibus driver
Department: Academy
Reporting to: Head of Academy Coaching
Main objectives
- Drive football club minibus, transporting Academy players to matches
Summary of duties
- Meet at agreed location to pick up Club minibus
- Carry out standard/basic minibus safety checks
- Pick up and transport players to and from the match venue
- Be responsible for security of minibus while in use
- Return minibus to agreed location, and return keys to relevant secure place
Essential
- Minimum 21 years of age
- Clean, full driving licence, that permits driving of minibuses
- Flexibility of availability
- The successful candidate will have to provide two satisfactory references and pass a Disclosure and Barring Service check.
Desirable
- Previous experience of driving minibuses
- Knowledge of motor vehicles and basic vehicle maintenance
- Previous experience of working with young people
