Karl: Disappointed Dons matched leaders

16 October 2016

While disappointed and frustrated after Saturday’s loss at Scunthorpe United, Karl Robinson insists his MK Dons side must take confidence from pushing the Sky Bet League One leaders all the way.

Robinson’s men led the Iron at half-time courtesy of Kieran Agard’s fifth goal of the season but the Glanford Park outfit fought back and condemn the Dons to only their second away loss of the campaign.

“These are top of the league for a reason but we’ve showed today that we shouldn’t be where we are,” Robinson told MK Dons PlayerHD. “These are top and we’ve pushed them all the way – it shows that we’re not too far away.

“We asked so many questions of their defenders today. We’ve whistled two or three past the post and put a couple of crosses across the box. We had some of the best chances in the game and didn’t take them when they came along – it’s those fine margins that we’ve been speaking about.”

“The people who were here saw a Dons team who worked hard, put their bodies on the line and really fought for everything.

“We all have to learn from this – me, the players and every single one of us. We’re disappointed and hurting but we have to ride through it, stick together and get better.”

He continued: “This has been a hard year and ultimately the buck stops with me. We have to take the criticism on the chin because the league table doesn’t look good – the performances have been right, the results haven’t.
