Ed eager to bounce back

20 October 2016

Ed Upson views Saturday’s clash with Southend United as a real opportunity to bounce back from Tuesday’s frustrations and record that elusive first home win.

Upson & Co were forced to settle for a point in midweek despite leading Bristol Rovers by two goals heading into the final five minutes, but the 26-year-old Dons midfielder hopes to respond this weekend by claiming victory.

“It’s going to be a big game and we’re all going to be right up for it,” Upson told MK Dons PlayerHD in the aftermath of Tuesday’s draw at Stadium MK.

“We’re looking forward to it because it’s a chance to put things right and I’m sure if we perform like we did in the first half (on Tuesday) then we won’t be far wrong.”

“We scored a couple of good, early goals which lifted the fans and the stadium, it’s just absolutely gutting we couldn’t hold on.

However, against an in-form Rovers side they just couldn’t see the result over the line – much to the frustration of the entire squad, including Upson.

It looked to be heading in the right direction for the Dons on Tuesday, with the team twice holding a two-goal lead.

He continued: “In terms of positives, though, the first half was very good and very enjoyable. It was just a few mistakes in the second half that’s cost us, so we’ve got to learn from that and build on it.”

“We’re going to have to analyse what went wrong. A couple of mistakes were pointed out which we’ll look to iron out but there also were a few ricochets on the second and third goals which always seems to be falling for the opposition at the moment, especially at home.”

“It feels like we’ve been beaten but that’s football at the end of the day – you have to take the knocks, learn from them and move on. It's Family Fun Day at Stadium MK on Saturday when MK Dons entertain Southend United in a Sky Bet League One clash - tickets are priced at just £12 adults and £1, while there will be a host of activity taking place around the ground from midday!
