Walsh & Wales pick up point

14 November 2016

Joe Walsh and Wales picked up a point in their FIFA World Cup qualifier against Serbia.

The MK Dons defender was among the substitutes for Chris Coleman’s men, who drew 1-1 with their Group D rivals in a tight contest at Cardiff City Stadium.

Gareth Bale opened the scoring for Wales on the half-hour mark after Hal Robson-Kanu forced Serbia defender Matija Nastasic into a mistake.

Bale then went close to doubling both his and his national side’s advantage in the second half, just moments before Serbia stunned the home crowd with an 85th minute header from Aleksandar Mitrovic.

Third-placed Wales, who have now drawn three in a row, remain unbeaten in the qualifiers but are four points adrift of Group D leaders Republic of Ireland, who they face in Dublin on 24th March.
