mkdons.com details the storylines to follow heading into Tuesday’s Checkatrade Trophy tie with Norwich City Under-21s at Carrow Road...

Build on Saturday’s success
MK Dons picked up their first win in six games on Saturday and this upcoming match provides them with a chance to build on that result.

Although changes are expected to be made to the side, another positive result will enhance that winning feeling rediscovered on Saturday, heading into an important Sky Bet League One clash with Walsall this weekend.

First place up for grabs
MK Dons have already secured their place in the knock-out stages of the Checkatrade Trophy while opponents Norwich City Under-21s are also through but that doesn't mean there isn't anything to play for on Tuesday evening.

The Dons can secure top spot in Group F with a win, which will also earn them a home tie in the second round of the tournament. However, defeat or a draw at Carrow Road will see current leaders Norwich secure first place, meaning the men from MK1 will play away in round two.

Chance for young Dons to shine again
When given the chance this season, especially in cup and trophy fixtures, the Dons’ young professionals and scholars have impressed.

As well as an impressive run in the EFL Cup, which included a win over Newport County and a superb display away at Sky Bet Championship outfit Reading, the young Dons have also impressed in the Checkatrade Trophy – defeating Barnet on penalties in the first game before seeing off Peterborough United in the second.

Brandon Thomas-Asante, Kabongo Tshimanga and Ben Tilney are among those who have shone in their first-team appearances – all of which should get another chance to dazzle on Tuesday, along with many other of the Dons’ exciting group of young talent.
