Midfielder Samir Carruthers says the experience of the past 12 months will make him stronger.
“I played a lot of games in the Championship and I’ve learnt a lot,” he told mkdons.com. “I had some good and some bad games – it’s been a big learning experience. Hopefully that will stand me in good stead in future years.
“I will be looking to take what I’ve learnt into next season and hopefully that will be beneficial for me and the team.
“The tempo is very high in the Championship, you can’t make mistakes and you need to be more ruthless when chances come along.”
Looking ahead to 2016/17, the 23-year-old said: “We know it’s going to be a battle next season – we will have to work extremely hard if we are to be successful. We are all going to put it in over pre-season and come back ready.
“We all the tough pre-season we’ve got ahead of us so I want to come back fighting fit – I know everyone will up for it too.”
He added: “I am always looking to improve all areas of my game, I’m always striving to be the best I can be.”
