Jackson’s joy at debut

12 May 2016

Oran Jackson loves the way first-team action makes him feel.

The 17-year-old made his first-team debut as a second-half substitute in the Dons’ final fixture of the 2015/16 season against Nottingham Forest.

“I’m buzzing and lost for words,” he told MK Dons PlayerHD. “Like Connor said after his debut, I can’t keep the smile off my face.

“It was a great opportunity for me and I want to thank the first-team staff for giving me the chance – they’ve been great to me.

“Having made my debut early, hopefully I can use that to help me in my scholar years but also help the other lads grasp the same opportunity.”

He added: “It’s been great training with the first-team. They’re all great, very professional. I haven’t quite got their banter yet but I’m getting there!”

The latest Academy graduate recalls the moment he got the call from manager Karl Robinson: “I think it was the 88th minute and he said ‘Oran, get ready’. My heart started pounding and I felt the smile come up on my face. I tried to keep it in and stay strong.

“I think I did well when I came on. I had three minutes to show the fans what I’ve got so I had to make the most of it.

“I’m not looking to have a long break, I’m looking to get straight back into it.”
