Trio set for international battle

24 March 2016

The Dons could have three players involved in international action this evening when Wales take on Northern Ireland in Cardiff.

The two home nations go head-to-head at the Cardiff City Stadium tonight in an international friendly which will be used by both sides as preparation for this summer’s European Championship.

Included in Wales’ squad are Dons duo Jonny Williams and Simon Church, who both featured for Chris Coleman’s men during the qualification campaign, while Lee Hodson is part of Michael O’Neill’s Northern Ireland side.

Wales will be without several first-team players for tonight’s Euro 2016 warm-up match, such as Gareth Bale, Aaron Ramsey, Ben Davies and Hal Robson-Kanu.

The Northern Irish, meanwhile, are without defender Chris Baird and midfielder Chris Brunt.

Wales are unbeaten in seven internationals against Northern Ireland, with the Green and White Army’s last victory over the Welsh coming in May 1980.

Tonight’s match will be shown live on BBC Two Wales, BBC Two Northern Ireland and the BBC Sport website. Kick-off is at 7.45pm.
