Trio looking to impress tonight

28 March 2016

Jonny Williams and Simon Church could be both in line to start for Wales tonight after their impressive displays in last Thursday’s 1-1 draw in Cardiff.

The duo came off the bench in Wales’ international friendly with Northern Ireland last week and changed the game in favour of the Welsh, who secured a draw late on thanks to Church’s stoppage-time penalty.

Therefore they’ll both be pushing to start this evening when Chris Coleman’s men take on Ukraine in Kiev.

Wales arrived in Eastern Europe on Sunday evening for their final Euro 2016 warm-up match before Coleman will announce his 23-man squad for this summer’s tournament.

Changes are expected to be made meaning Williams and Church may feature from start and if they do, they will be looking to do enough during their time on the pitch to impress their manager and secure their place on the flight to France in June.

The match takes place at 7pm at the RSK Olimpiyskyi and it will be shown live on BBC Two Wales.

Meanwhile, Lee Hodson will be looking to feature for Northern Ireland this evening, in their friendly with Slovenia in Belfast.

Hodson was an unused substitute for the Green and White Army in Thursday’s draw with Wales but will be hoping to feature at some point this evening and solidify his place in Michael O’Neill’s plans for Euro 2016.

As with Wales, tonight’s match against Slovenia will be the final opportunity for Hodson and co to prove their worth to O’Neill and make a claim for a spot in his 23-man squad.

Kick-off at Windsor Park is at 7.45pm, however the game will not be shown live on English television.
