Results against top teams pleasing Robbo

15 March 2016

The Dons may be far off the top sides in the Sky Bet Championship in terms of stature but, in terms of the results, they proven to be more than a match since the turn of the year.

Aside from the clash with Burnley at the start of January, the men from MK1 are unbeaten against teams in the top half of the table in 2016.

They took a total of nine points from their recent meetings with Cardiff City, Middlesbrough, Derby County, QPR and Hull City, while in those five games, Robinson’s men conceded just two goals.

“When you look at our results against what you'd class as the top sides, take away Burnley, we've come away with a lot of points,” Robinson said. “It's a tremendous achievement by the players.

“We started the season as massive underdogs and nobody can say the players have not given enough this year. They've all given me everything they can, and they've repaid me in keeping them all together.”

“We're not that far away and we’ve never been that far away and that makes me really excited.”

“We are losing and drawing through fine margins. We're talking about a handball, a deflected header, an own goal or a miss late on - these fine margins are the difference between us and maybe another nine or 10 points.

Although nine points from those five fixtures is a decent return for a side sat one place above the bottom three, it could have been better had it not been for that late equaliser against Middlesbrough and missed chances in the other matches. Robinson's men are back in action on Saturday when they host Brighton & Hove Albion at stadiummk in the Club's Family Fun Day fixture - tickets are priced at just £12 for adults and £1 for U18s.
