Cody Cropper came off the bench to help USA Under-23s take a slight advantage into their Rio 2016 Olympics play-off second leg with Colombia.
Cropper was named among the substitutes for the Rio 2016 qualifier and watched on as his side took the lead just six minutes in thanks to Luis Gil, who converted from close-range after latching onto Mario Rodriguez’s cut-back.
The Dons goalkeeper was then called into action when Ethan Horvath was forced off with an injury just before half-time following a collision on the edge of his box.
Cropper had to make a number of important saves to keep his side ahead before the break but could do little to prevent Colombia equalising on 68 minutes from the penalty spot, after Kellyn Acosta brought down Rafael Borre.
It was the South Americans who dominated the closing stages but Cropper and co were able to see out the draw, which leaves them with a real chance of qualifying for this summer’s games.
The second leg takes place at the Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas on Tuesday evening; kick-off 3am GMT.
