Church wins battle of Dons loanees

14 March 2016

Simon Church came out on top in the battle of the two Dons loanees in Scotland at the weekend.

Church’s Aberdeen beat Lee Hodson’s Kilmarnock 2-1 at Pittodrie on Saturday to remain within just a point of Premiership leaders Celtic.

Both got another 90 minutes under their belts ahead of Euro 2016 this summer, where Church and Hodson will be hoping to represent Wales and Northern Ireland respectively.

Elsewhere, Harry Hickford impressed once again as he helped Hemel Hempstead to a 2-1 win over promotion-chasing Truro City – their third straight success.

Fellow Academy product Giorgio Rasulo played 68 minutes of Aldershot Town’s stalemate with Torquay United in the Vanamara National League.

U18s goalkeeper Tom Wyant was also involved in a draw as his loan club Biggleswade United were held 2-2 by Cockfosters, as was Kabongo Tshimanga, who was an unused substitute in Chesham United's 2-2 draw with Biggleswade Town.

The only Don to taste defeat at the weekend was Tom Hitchcock, who played for just over an hour in Crewe Alexandra’s 3-0 reverse at the hands of high-flying Gillingham.
